Doing Business James 4:13-15 Style

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

Well, I'm still alive. But the site is still a little... er... not as alive.

We've been studying James at the men's Bible study I attend. This passage really struck me last week. And it came to mind again. ...carrying out business and making money?

We ended up not being able to do that today. We're making so many updates to our system that it's simply not functional yet.

The changes are slowly showing up on the website now. Unfortunately: For all the changes, you won't be able to buy anything today.

If the Lord wills it, we'll be up and running tomorrow. That would be nice. Doing business and making money--while certainly not the drive behind Sonlight--is an essential aspect of what we do <smile>.

Your continued prayers are very welcome. Thanks for your patience!

Ooh, glad I purchased my left-out item on Friday :)

I can't wait! I've been checking every few hours since this morning. I don't have anything to order at the moment, so the shopping cart thing isn't an issue, I'm just excited to see how the new website has been implemented and to begin salivating over the next year's core!

Better safe than sorry, especially with the potential of a major crash due to the traffic onslaught from Sonlight lovers like me!

Our prayers are with you, for great success with your launch and throughout this uncertain economy. I sincerely want *you* to succeed, because you help my family succeed in our homeschooling endeavours.

    God bless.

Lucky for you that we are still on Week 29 of Core 1 and there is no emergent rush to buy Core 2. Hahaha! I can be patient, but I am looking forward to the big reveal.

Praying for you Luke! Nothing like having a massive issue with something right in front of the world. At least it keeps us humble. :-) I am looking forward to seeing all the changes.

I really admire you all for the way that you see problems and attempt all in your power to fix them. Even when it means huge hassles and potential failure. I really admire that and want my kids to be that way.

    Continuing to pray, Luke.

As the web mom of our own websites (very small in comparison), I totally get how much work goes into a major overhaul.

It's hard to roll out major updates on schedule, even on a small scale. It must be a lot more stressful though, as SL is so well known!

Prayers going up, especially for mental health!

Before I became a stay at home mom, I was in charge of a company's two online stores. Big changes are killer.

Best of luck to you today!

    We can be patient.

Thanks, friends! Soon. Very soon! ...Lord willing <smile>.
